COMPANY CONTEXT

Our client is a multi-stream household waste treatment centre. It fulfils a public service mission entrusted to it by a major metropolitan area.

This innovative site is the first in France to combine 3 types of recovery techniques: sorting, organic recovery and energy recovery. In waste recovery, the combustible fraction is transformed into energy, while the organic fraction is used to produce biogas and electricity, as well as compost for agricultural use.

FILTRATION ISSUE

Already a supplier of filter bodies and consumables for tank vents, the company approached us with a new water filtration project..

Our customer expressed the need for a ‘filtering device’ to purify water stored in a basin. The water was centrifuged and needed to be purified of coarse particles of around 800 µm in size when the tank was emptied.

THE PEMFLOW FILTRATION SOLUTION

The first requirement expressed by our contacts was to have a filter body fitted with a Polyamide 6 filter bag with a filtration threshold of 800 µm for a flow rate of 30 m3/h.

After clarifying the actual requirements, we decided to design a mobile filtration skid (moved by pallet truck), comprising 2 filter housings in parallel and capable of handling a maximum flow rate of 60 m3/h.

What's more, our customer was looking for a filtration player that was both local and nearby. Working with our partner AMAZON FILTERS, we designed and developed a mobile filtration system with the following features:

  • 304 stainless steel frame
  • 2 filter housings in 316L stainless steel from the 81 series by AMAZON FILTERS
  • Size 2 soft bag
  • 6 isolation valves
  • 2 pressure gauges (0-6 bar) on the inlet and outlet pipes
  • Vent valve kits with air purge valve
  • Inlet/Outlet in DN80 PN16
  • Mounted on a grating with retention and purge valve
  • Palletizable skid with lateral frames

This configuration enables the unit to operate at 60m3/h at full load and to ensure a minimum of 30 m3/h when changing the filter bag on either filter housing.

The platform or grating leaves enough space to allow the operator to work in complete safety and without handling constraints during operations.

Expert advice:

PED (Pressure Equipment Directive)

All pressure equipment put into service in Europe must comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU. This directive requires that all pressure equipment and assemblies above specified pressure and/or volume thresholds must comply with essential safety requirements covering design, manufacture and testing, satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures, bear the CE marking and/or other information.
