COMPANY CONTEXT

For over 150 years, our client has developed unique expertise, combining tradition and innovation in the production of high-quality beverages. The company employs around 40 people and produces an average of 150,000 bottles per day. It has an in-house quality control laboratory and an R&D unit, allowing it to design and develop all its new products at its French site.

FILTRATION ISSUE

Our client uses filtration plates made of cellulose and perlite to remove contaminants in the production of sugar syrups (organic or not) at 60° Bx and to clarify the solution.

Expert Advice:

Brix Scale

The Brix scale measures the fraction of sucrose in a liquid in degrees Brix (°B or °Bx), indicating the percentage of soluble dry matter. The higher the °Brix, the sweeter the sample.

The high labor costs (cleaning, maintenance…) and significant downtime associated with the plate filtration system led our client to seek a more efficient and cost-effective technical solution.

FILTRATION SOLUTION BY PEMFLOW

Pemflow was selected to supply a filter housing and filter cartridge due to the following advantages:

  • Easy installation and operation
  • Small footprint compared to a plate filtration system
  • Significant reduction in water and energy consumption
  • Unchanged production procedures
  • Closed system ensuring stability and safety
  • Sanitary filter housing
  • Food-contact-approved filtration cartridge

The filtration system needed to handle a weekly flow rate of 20T and an instantaneous flow rate of 4.2 m3/h.

Pemflow opted for a SupaPleat FFC High-Flow Cartridge from AMAZON FILTERS
