FILTRATION ISSUE

Following the signing of a new partnership with the German company Kronsbein Ultrafilter GmbH, we approached this company to propose our solutions for compressed air and sterile gas filtration. They responded positively and submitted two projects:

  1. Replacing existing filter elements to reduce procurement costs.
  2. Providing 4 filtration units (Skids) to sterilize compressed air at the point of use.

FILTRATION SOLUTION BY PEMFLOW

Replacement of Filter Elements

Our client uses three types of filters: oil removal filters, activated carbon filters, and filters for the sterilization of compressed air, which is essential for transporting food products.

Oil Removal Filters: Microfilter Elements (MF) from Kronsbein Ultrafilter

Oil Removal FiltersThanks to the unique combination of nanofiber filter media and pleated technology, these filters are designed to eliminate water and oil aerosols as well as particles from compressed air and gases.

This technology reduces energy costs by 70% and improves filtration performance.

The oleophobic media repels oil and water, minimizing pressure drop and maintenance operations compared to conventional technologies.

Activated Carbon FiltersActivated Carbon Filters (AK) from Kronsbein Ultrafilter

Activated carbon filters are designed to efficiently remove oil and hydrocarbon vapors.

They feature a two-stage filtration process:

  • The deep nanofiber media captures particles.
  • The activated carbon adsorbs oil and hydrocarbon vapors.

The residual oil content is less than 0.003 mg/m³ when upstream protection is ensured by coalescing filters to remove liquid oil.

Expert Advice:

Ambient air is contaminated with particles. One cubic meter of air can contain more than 190 million biological and non-biological particles, bacteria, viruses, oil, and water. After compressing the air, the concentration of pollutants significantly increases. Therefore, filtering compressed air is essential to protect both processes and production machinery.

Sterilizing FiltersSterilizing Filters (P-SRF) from Kronsbein Ultrafilter

Composed of a three-dimensional borosilicate depth filtration media, this filter achieves a void volume of 95%, ensuring high containment capacity at high flow rates and low differential pressure.

The inner and outer supports, as well as the end caps, are made of stainless steel. The retention rate of 99.99998% corresponds to a filtration threshold of 0.2 µm. These filter elements can be sterilized either inline or with steam in an autoclave.

Our compressed air filtration solutions fully met our client's requirements, both in terms of filter implementation and operational efficiency. Additionally, we provided a cost reduction for the group’s purchasing manager.

Supply of 4 Filtration Units (Skid)

Filtration SkidAt the point of use, our client required a complete system for compressed air sterilization. We proposed a filtration skid consisting of three filtration stages to achieve compressed air sterilization.

Did you know?

All our sterile filters are approved and validated according to FDA CFR Article 21 / EC 1935/2004.

The three filtration stages are as follows:

  • Pre-filtration consisting of an aluminum filter with a pressure gauge and float drain + an MF 04/20 filter element.
  • Activated carbon filtration consisting of an aluminum filter with a float drain + an AK 04/20 filter element.
  • Finally, sterilizing filtration consisting of a sterile filter housing + a P-SRF filter element.

All filter housings and filter elements are manufactured by our partner Kronsbein Ultrafilter GmbH.
